Every stone is one of a kind. So is where it comes from.

Every piece we work with began as tree resin roughly 40 million years ago, and was legally mined from Ukraine’s Rivne region — one of the richest amber deposits on Earth. We think jewelry made from something that rare deserves time, care, and honesty.

Amber Atelier Vlad began the way most honest crafts do — with one person, a fascination that wouldn’t let go, and a growing pile of raw amber on a workbench. I’m Vlad, and I’ve been working with Baltic amber for over ten years, long before the shop existed as a shop.

Our amber is legally mined in Ukraine’s Rivne region, home to some of the richest amber deposits anywhere in the world. Every stone we bring into the studio is sourced and traded fully within Ukrainian law, from a region with a genuine, centuries-old relationship with this material.

What kept pulling me back wasn’t just the color — that impossible range from pale lemon to deep cognac to near-black cherry — it was what’s sometimes trapped inside: a gnat mid-flight, a spider, a droplet of ancient water, frozen mid-motion for tens of millions of years. No two stones ever come out the same, and holding one like that is holding a genuinely unique moment in time.

Today, Amber Atelier Vlad ships from our studio in Ukraine to collectors and wearers across the world. And we’re just getting started: we’re actively expanding into new amber jewelry lines and pressed amber pieces, so there’s always more of this material’s range still to explore. Every order is packed by hand and sent tracked, because after ten years with this material, we know exactly how much care it deserves on its final journey to you.

No factory, no outsourcing. Every piece is finished by hand in the same studio, which is why we can stand behind every single item we ship.

BEYOND RAW AMBER

What is pressed amber — and why we work with it too

Alongside our raw, natural stones, part of our growing collection uses pressed amber (ambroid) — genuine Baltic amber, reshaped rather than replaced. Here’s exactly how it’s made, so you always know what you’re buying.

Still 100% genuine amber. Made only from real amber fragments and offcuts left over from cutting raw stones, never synthetic resin or plastic.
Melted under heat and pressure. Fragments are cleaned, then heated and compressed under high pressure — with no added chemicals — until they fuse into a single solid block.
Cut and polished by hand. The fused block is cut, shaped and hand-polished into beads or pendants — giving a more uniform color and shape than raw amber allows.
Clearly labeled, always. Every pressed-amber listing says so plainly — we never pass reshaped amber off as a single raw stone.

Why use it at all? Pressing puts small, otherwise-wasted amber fragments to good use — nothing goes to landfill — and gives certain pieces, like matched prayer bead sets, a more consistent look raw stones can’t offer.
